About this app

Mountain bikes first emerged with touring bikes while going down the mountain. Balloon tire bikes, which became popular in California in the 1970s, were later called mountain bikes. Later, the frame manufacturer named Joe Breeze would make mountain bike frames that could be fitted with oversized tires.

In the early 80s, the first custom-made mountain bike debuted with the Lawwill Pro Cruiser brand and model. This bike sold 600 units at a price of about $500. The first mass-produced mountain bike was the Specialized Stumpjumper, which went on sale in 1981. In the 90s and 2000s, mountain bikes continued to evolve. We have come to the present day with the development of the suspension first and then the improvements in the brakes. During this time, discipline-specific mountain bikes emerged. These bikes were classified according to their use.

Another group of mountain bikes is called XC and Cross Country; Special mountain bikes for climbing focused on energy efficiency and lightness are classified as XC. These bikes usually had a single shock absorber operating in the front 60 to 120mm range. With the shock absorber technology that has developed in recent years, it is not preferred even if a shock absorber is installed on the back.

Trail group: Mountain bikes designed for riding on trails specially made for mountain biking are classified as trails. Working in the 120 to 150mm range, this class with dual shock absorbers is lighter than the xc but more prone to landing.

Enduro - All Mountain: The mountain bikes that do not require a particular track, both climbing and descending and which are more durable than the trail class are called enduro. These bikes have shock absorbers working in the range of 150 to 180mm.

Downhill: Only downhill mountain bikes are called downhill. The lightest materials are generally preferred in the parts, and the shock absorbers have a working distance of 200mm.
