About this app

Krav Maga is a highly effective self-defense system that originated in Israel in the late 1940s.

The name and term, Krav Maga, means Contact Combat in Hebrew, and the system is based on the principles of simplicity, efficiency and adaptability.

Krav Maga was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, who was a martial artist and wrestler who grew up in Bratislava, Slovakia. He was part of a group that protected Jewish neighborhoods, and here he used his martial arts skills to defend himself and others against confrontations with fascist groups in the 1930s.

Imi fled to Israel during World War II. In Israel, he was asked to develop a self-defense system for the Israeli military. He drew on his experiences from his time in the Jewish defense groups and combined them with his martial arts training to create the Krav Maga system.

Krav Maga is not only a physical form of self-defense; the system also includes mental and emotional training.

In addition to learning a variety of practical self-defense techniques, Krav Maga students also learn how to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations, thus developing the ability to make instinctive and quick decisions under stress and generally overcome fear.

This training develops a sense of self-confidence and self-assurance, which can also be implemented in other areas of life.

Krav Maga training includes a wide range of techniques, including performing punches, kicks, takedowns and floor fighting techniques from grappling.

Students also learn to defend themselves against these common attacks, such as punches, kicks and grabs, as well as how to defend themselves against weapons such as knives.

However, the focus is not only on physical technique; the system inspires that the individual student also develops mental toughness and emotional resilience.

Krav Maga is designed to be a practical and effective form of self-defense that can be used by anyone, regardless of age, gender or physical condition. The self-defense system emphasizes techniques that are simple and easy to learn, but also effective in real-life situations.

Students also learn to strengthen their self-awareness and how to recognize and avoid potential threats in different situations.

Krav Maga training is divided into several levels, with each level building on the skills learned at the previous level.

Students start with the basic techniques and gradually progress to more advanced techniques as they become more proficient.

In addition to learning self-defense, Krav Maga also provides significant mental and emotional benefits. Regular training in Krav Maga can help individuals develop a stronger sense of self-confidence, courage and resilience.

It can also help individuals manage stress and anxiety, improve their focus and concentration, and develop a positive mindset and approach to life.
