UFO claims have been made since ancient times. According to some ufologists, the bizarre depictions at Cave of Altamira in Spain or Lot (Pech-Merle) Cave in Cougnac (France) may be UFO depictions. Also, some paintings or figurines, such as the Tassili frescoes in Algeria, interestingly resemble alien depictions depicted in 20th-century reports. According to some ufologists, this is proof that the UFO phenomenon existed before man invented aircraft.
Most UFO sightings are based on more or less conclusive testimony from one or more individuals who are unable to provide any tangible evidence of the authenticity of their observations.
The number of UFO sightings made (collectively) by large audiences is numerous. Examples of mass UFO sightings are the Belgian UFO Raid (Wave), the Mexico UFO Raid, and the Battle of Los Angeles. Some UFO events in France are also listed by GEIPAN; one of the massive UFO sightings on this list is the UFO sighting on February 2, 1985, in Aquitaine, known as the Aldudes Incident. Seen by a large crowd of people, this UFO was illuminated, emitting white, red, and green lights. The UFO was later also observed in the Ardennes (France) and Spain. Another massive observation in France is known as the Vaucluse Event or the Hautes-Pyrénées Event.
