The author of the book The Origins of Psychology, Dr. Ahmed Ezzat Rageh, one of the Egyptian psychologists, was a professor of psychology at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University.This book has two theoretical goals, which are to review the basic principles and results that resulted from the research of contemporary psychological schools of all kinds, as well as to combine the opinions of these schools on the same subject, without siding with one of them. This clearly began to address the issues of motivation, cognition, learning, and personality measurement.
As for the practical objective, it is to provide the reader with a range of information and principles that help him insight into himself and understand others, as well as help him to solve his various daily problems at home, at work, and in the crowds of the larger society. This is in addition to helping him maintain his mental health.
The book is full of realistic examples derived from our environment and others, examples that bring the meaning closer to the reader, establish it in his mind, and mean him to see the relationships between psychology findings and assumptions and what is happening in daily life.
It contains many scientific experiments conducted in and outside psychology laboratories, which would differentiate between opinion and truth, separate commonplace from reality, and show the extent to which this emerging science works to follow the example of other natural sciences.
