Sponsored by the New York Bible Society (later Biblica), fifteen biblical scholars formed the Committee on Bible Translation (CBT) and were charged with the responsibility of overseeing the translation. The outcome of their diligent work was scrutinized and revised by multiple committees and tested by a diverse audience for clarity and ease of reading.
