About this app

Children and individuals with disabilities find it easier to understand daily activities with the use of visuals. Creating visual prompts acts as an aid to communication, that enables children to be confident in their daily lives, increasing well-being and reducing anxiety.

Many individuals requires assistance in completing daily living tasks, with the use of clear, individualised prompts based on their ability and environment, children can become more independent and reach their full potential.

avail is an educational aid designed for children and adults to teach daily life skills, and understanding of day-to-day activities and events.

We have developed avail from our experience working and conducting research in the area of education and independent living, we are able to provide traditional methods of picture schedules, picture exchange and picture prompts digitally using a smart device. This development reduces time and materials spent taken and laminating pictures, and provides the learner with an engaging and socially acceptable approach to completing and understanding every day activities.

Who can use it:
avail is an individualised learning support, that was designed to be used by both children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Learning Disabilities, Developmental Coordination Disorder or by anyone who requires assistance in completing self-management skills. It utilises principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and best practice in the field, empowering the parent or caregiver in creating and implemented an effective programme in their own environment.

How it works:
avail guides parents or carers in creating step-by-step prompts of the task in their environment based on the person ability. The software will guide you in creating tasks using video, picture, audio, or text prompts /instructions of a tasks.

Social Stories:
Children often get upset and anxious in new situations or changes in routine, creating social stories of these events can help with transitions and providing understanding and acceptance of the event. These stories e.g. “Going to the doctor”/”Going on holidays”/”Get your haircut” can be easily created or downloaded from our avail library.

avail library:
Have unlimited access to download pre-created tasks and social stories which can be edited. Change the pictures to suit your environment or record your own voice, our library includes a number of tasks and skills, such as: Hygiene skills, Dressing skills, Community skills.

All of this data is securely stored on our website, so parents can view progress, monitor when tasks are completed, create individual reports, making avail the most personalised, evidence based software available.
