About this app

Shōrin-ryū is one of the major modern Okinawan martial arts and is one of the oldest styles of karate. Karate is predominantly a striking art using punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes, and open-hand techniques such as knife-hands, spear-hands, and palm-heel strikes .

Karate kata are executed as a specified series of a variety of moves, with stepping and turning, while attempting to maintain perfect form. The kata is not intended as a literal depiction of a mock fight, but as a display of transition and flow from one posture and movement to another, teaching the student proper form and position, and encouraging them to visualize different scenarios for the use of each motion and technique

This app will provide you curated content around different Katas. You’ll be able to watch videos where a sensei executes a kata and some others where they are teaching or making corrections to their students.
