Peterbilt is a Paccar A-owned medium and heavy truck manufacturer. The company was founded in 1939 and is headquartered in Denton, Texas. Peterbilt Motors Company is an American truck company. Founded in 1939 with the acquisition of Fageol Truck and Motor Company, Peterbilt specializes in producing heavy and medium-duty commercial vehicles.In 1939 the Fageol facility in Oakland began operations as Peterbilt Motors Company. As part of the design process, Peterman company and truck owners and drivers consulted their drivers on how trucks could be improved. In April 1939, Peterbilt released its first vehicles for public sale, the single-axle Model 260 and the tandem-axle Model 334. Both trucks were offered with either gasoline or diesel engines.
Named after company founder T.A. "Al" Peterman, Peterbilt has been part of PACCAR since 1958 and operates with its sister division, Kenworth Truck Company.
Peterbilt trucks are identified by a sizeable red-oval brand emblem, in use since 1953. The company also uses a "bird" style bonnet ornament on trucks with a conventional cab in service since 1965.
In 1993, Peterbilt moved its company and engineering headquarters to Denton, ending all operations in Newark. In 2000, Peterbilt introduced the Model 330, its first medium-duty conventional cab truck. Manufactured by the completely new plant in Sainte-Thérèse, the 330 used the 1100 series cabin of Class 8 conventionals with utterly new bodywork. In 2000, production of the 377 ended, effectively replacing the 120-inch 385 and 387.
In 2021, Peterbilt truck began production of the all-electric model line, launching three different classes. And it proved its success to the whole world in the electric heavy industry.
