Detailed Description

Being a Piarist means that we are passionate about what Kalazancius loved. But what did Kalazancius love so much? Jesus of Nazareth, his gospel, whatever he calls. This is why we serve children and young people, especially the most deprived. That's why we believe in young people, that's why we walk the path with them, that's why we build the world with them. This is the Emmaus way too. That is why we have prepared this application for you to find the gospel of every day of the year, according to the calendar of the Catholic Church and the calendar of the Piarist order.

Still reading? Let us say:

We, the Piarists, are driven by the desire to be disciples, intimate friends, and authentic witnesses of Jesus. Being a Christian means, first and foremost, thinking the same way as Jesus, feeling the same as Jesus, doing the same as Jesus. This was beautifully articulated by the Prince in his reflection on October 26, 2019: "Faith and the pursuit of Jesus are not 'theoretical things' but are rooted in our souls, in our lives. They have to become a reality in our way of life, in our attitudes and decisions. That's why we need to read the gospel and pray to it. Reading from day to day will pass through us like rain, which will moisturize and fertilize the earth. ”

So when we read the gospel, we really want to pray. But what does it mean to pray? First and foremost, we do not read prayers written by others, but that we personally reveal ourselves to Heavenly Father and ask us to shape us. We often ask God to change the people around us, make them more lovable or bearable, though we should rather ask us to help change our behavior. Jesus left us with one commandment: to love others as He loves them. This is the root of prayer. In prayer we ask us to change, and in prayer we begin to change: our hearts are at the same wavelength as Jesus.

This is the purpose of reading the gospel in our lives: We want to apply it to our own lives: What does this text tell me? Which word echoes in me? Which sentence captured me? What does Jesus call? What do I need to change? What should I do here and now, what is in the spirit of Jesus?

The October 2018 Episcopal Synod used the Emmaus Discourse narrative to outline the mission of the Church today regarding youth. We Hungarian Piaristians are pleased to recognize this beautiful mission of the Church: to approach young people as Jesus, to listen to their ideas, their desires, to understand their doubts, to share their pains as Jesus, to move past them as Jesus, to help them understand the events of life. Jesus, to be with them and to eat with them when the night as Jesus descends upon them is to open their eyes to the truth, like Jesus, in the bread-breaking gesture of love, to begin immediately and witness their special experiences, changes in their thinking and lives.

We believe that Jesus is with us, comes with us, and speaks to us. Let's be with Jesus every day!
