About this app

Speek! is the first anonymous crypto messenger that is decentralized and metadata-free by design. It makes no compromise on ease-of-use and is as easy to use as popular messengers like Telegram and Threema.

In comparison to popular messengers like Telegram, Threema, and Signal, Speek! is by far the most secure and anonymous way to converse. Speek! is serverless (decentralized), stores no metadata, requires no ID or phone number (anonymous), and all the messages are end-to-end encrypted.

The users are only identified with public keys. Each user can share their public key with others to add them to the contacts list.

DECENTRALIZED: Speek! is a p2p messenger. Your messages and data are never stored on any servers. Speek! makes it possible to converse without middlemen. Speek! is decentralized like cryptocurrencies when you do not store them on exchanges like Binance and Coinbase.

SECURE: Speek! is the most secure crypto messenger. Everything is encrypted on your device and all your messages are routed via the Tor network.

100% FREE & OPEN: Speek! is free for everyone. There will be never any in-app purchases and all the source code is open-sourced. (Unlike Threema)

PRIVATE: All your messages are private. Nothing is stored and there is no meta-data. Once you close Speek! messenger all your messages are deleted.

FEATURE-RICH: Encrypted file-sharing is supported. The files are also shared p2p and all the traffic is encrypted.

ANONYMOUS: You are only identified by a public crypto key and all the traffic is routed via TOR.

COMPARISON

TELEGRAM: Telegram is not completely opensource and not anonymous and decentralized. Only the client is opensource, but the server code is not opensource. Telegram states that it is E2E but this is only an opt-in feature. Also you cannot trust the server, because as mentioned, it is not opensource and cannot be audited. Moreover you cannot be anonymous, because you need a phone number to use it.

THREEMA: In Threema you also need a phone number to use it, which means it is also not anonymous. Also, all the communication has to run via the Threema server and you can never know, which software runs on their servers. Threema is not p2p and decentralized. Also Threema is not free.

SIGNAL: In Signal you also need a phone number to use it, which means it is also not anonymous. Also, all the communication has to run via the Signal server and you can never know, which software runs on their servers. Signal is not p2p and decentralized.

SESSION: The big difference to Session is that Session uses the Oxen Blockchain crypto (and cryptocurrency) and that messages are stored temporarily in the Swarm. This adds an attack vector to the system, because now you depend on the Oxen crypto. Speek! only needs the Tor network to function properly. It is important in security to minimize dependencies and to focus on simplicity. Session only supports file sharing for up to 10MB.
