Interactive book of Changes I Ching: fortune telling with eal coins

About this app

The Book of Changes or (as it will be more correct) The Classic of Changes I Ching - perhaps not the most ancient of the monuments of Chinese literature, but certainly the most famous. The full text is rather a philosophical work, the study of which was prescribed to all educated people in the Confucian world. The Book, in fact, is an encrypted mystical scheme of knowledge about the world order. The perception and understanding of its text largely depends on the state and mood of the reader, which allows each next reading to find new facets of the text and use the Book of Changes in fortune-telling. There are statements by Confucius (most likely attributed to him later) about the Canon of Changes: « If I could extend my life, I would give fifty years to study Change, and then I could not make mistakes»

Fortune-telling:
The fortune-telling part of the Canon consists of descriptions for 64 hexagrams (figures of six lines). Each of these texts describes a condition or situation and possible outcomes. Fortune telling itself consists in choosing one of these hexagrams.
Traditionally, three coins are used for this. Bearing in mind the question, a fortuneteller tosses coins 6 times, identifying six features of the hexagram by the combination of heads and tails (the rules for determining the features are given in the application).

Application Features:
• The application allows both widespread simplified fortune telling and more classical (with aging lines) and giving a more detailed answer.
• Unlike the vast majority of such applications, in this application, the functions of generating pseudorandom numbers are not used to determine the sides of the dropped coins. The side is determined close to the real miscalculation of the movement of the coin thrown by your hand.
• In addition to the canonical text, the application contains interpretations and comments by several authors (you can configure the display in the settings).
Fortune telling results (with your comments) are stored in the Results History, so you can always return to them later.
• The articles in the application will help you in studying I Ching and will allow you to more deeply understand the meaning contained in its texts.
