DBT CRISIS is an application that will help you manage an emotional crisis effectively, without making the situation worse. It is developed as a complementary tool for DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) patients and therapists, as well as anyone who has difficulty regulating emotions, and therefore, risk of crisis.
Crises are highly stressful situations with potential negative results for you or those around you if you let yourself be carried away by what you feel. They are usually short-lived and are experienced as a moment of great discomfort, which is perceived as intolerable and is associated with impulses and behaviors that, although they can bring relief in the short term, end up making the situation worse. This can include self-harm, consumption of drugs, aggression to others etc. In some cases, crises are experienced as a disconnection from reality, we may feel that "we are leaving the present", you may have the feeling that you have memory loss, you act on automatic pilot, you can observe yourself from outside your body, feeling that things around you are strange or not real, or even hearing voices.
Through DBT CRISIS you will be able to develop an individualized plan with different strategies/skills for crisis management, which will have a "step by step" to guide you in the effective application of the skill. In the case of subscribing you will be able to have an audio guide for the step by step of each skill, which will facilitate its effective application in the moment of crisis. In addition, you will have the "Crisis Prevention" function, through which you can develop a series of reminders that will allow you to recognize and check your emotional vulnerability, as well as identify and anticipate potential crisis situations to avoid behaviors that worsen the situation.
Skills are a group of behaviors that will help us make a painful situation more tolerable, so that you are able to stop impulsive actions that could make the situation worse. The goal is to tolerate painful events, unpleasant emotions, and strong urges to engage in problem behavior when one cannot make things better in the moment.
These skills are based on different evidence-based therapy models, especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. In other words, all the skills that you will find on this list have been empirically shown to be effective in regulating emotions and managing crisis situations.
