Detailed Description

The app computes soil erosion at any location worldwide to help land users have a more accurate perception of soil erosion and identify areas at a greater risk of erosion. Those land users include the farmers, rural municipalities, property developers and construction firms, environmental groups, soil conservation organizations, soil and water conservation associations, soil science Societies, etc.



This app uses the USLE equation, which is based on the following formula: E = R × K × LS × C × P



Where E equals the computed average soil loss measured in tons per acre per year. R is the rainfall-runoff erosion factor. The erosion-factor measures the erosion force of a specific rainfall event (Gobena, 2003). K is the soil erodibility factor that represents both the rate at which different soils erode and the rate of runoff. K is a combination of the percentage of silt, fine sand; sand; and the percentage of organic matter content. LS is the topographic factor, which represents the impact of slope length on erosion and is influenced by the shape, angle, and length of the slope. C is a dimensionless cropping-management factor that accounts for the impact of crop management practices, and P is a support practice factor, which accounts for the effectiveness of erosion control practices such as contouring, terracing, etc.
