The Holy Rosary is also known as the Dominican Rosary.The word "Rosary", comes from the Latin word which means "crown of roses" or "garland of roses"), the rose being one of the flowers used to symbolize the Virgin Mary. Each time Catholic say a Hail Mary, they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses.

A standard 15 Mysteries of the Rosary, based on the long-standing custom, was established by Pope Pius V V during the 16th century, grouping the mysteries in three sets: the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, and the Glorious Mysteries. During 2002, Saint Paul II said added the Luminous Mysteries, bringing the total number of mysteries to 20.
The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events in the history of our salvation. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five Joyful Mysteries (said on Monday and Saturday), the five Luminous Mysteries (said on Thursday), the five Sorrowful Mysteries (said on Tuesday and Friday), and the five Glorious Mysteries (said on Wednesday and Sunday). As an exception, the Joyful Mysteries may be said on Sundays during Advent and Christmas, while the Sorrowful Mysteries may be said on the Sundays of Lent.
During the recitation of each set, thought is given to one of the Mysteries Of The Rosary, which recall events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. Five decades are recited per rosary. Other prayers are sometimes added before or after each decade. Rosary beads are an aid towards saying these prayers in the proper sequence.
The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect prayer because within it lies the awesome story of our salvation. With the Rosary, we meditate the mysteries of joy, sorrow, luminous(light), and the glory of Jesus and Mary. It's a humble so much like Mary.
It is a prayer we invite Mary to pray with us. Our Lady will always grant our request.
Through her intercession, we ask Jesus to hear our prayers too. Therefore it becomes ever more useful because what Mary asks She always receives, Jesus can never say no to whatever His Mother asks for.
