Types of Usury According to the Book of Mabadi Fiqh 4

Mushanif said there are several types of usury that we must know about so that we can avoid this act of usury, including:

1. Riba Nasi'ah, namely usury which is giving up assets in return (ending the delivery of goods). For example, when someone buys rice, he has given the money but the goods are sent 1 week later.

2. Riba Fadl, namely the exchange of ribawi goods for the like accompanied by an addition from one of the exchangers. For example, when someone exchanges 5 kg of good rice for 8 kg of bad rice, this is usury because one of them has added to the measure of the goods. Even though the ribawi goods are of different quality but of the same type, the measure/weighing/measure must remain the same and must also be in cash.

As for exchanging ribawi goods of different types, the amount does not have to be the same as long as it has to be in cash because there is a fear of there being an element of goror (fraud). An example of exchanging ribawi goods of different types is between 1 ton of rice and 1/2 kg of gold.

3. Usury Qorod, namely usury which is like debt. For example, when someone wants to borrow money and the person who lends it says "when you return it there must be more" this is usury because it is almost the same as interest.

So usury is haram and is hated by ALLAH, whether those who do it, those who witness it, those who write it down and anyone who has anything to do with usury will be cursed by ALLAH and His Messenger.
