The Rashidun Caliphate (Arabic: اَلْخِلَافَةُ ٱلرَّاشِدَةُ, romanized: al-Khilāfah ar-Rāšidah) was the first of the four major caliphates established after the death of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It was ruled by the first four successive caliphs (successors) of Muhammad after his death in 632 CE (AH 11). These caliphs are collectively known in Sunni Islam as the Rashidun, or "Rightly Guided" caliphs (اَلْخُلَفَاءُ ٱلرَّاشِدُونَ, al-Khulafāʾ ar-Rāšidūn). This term is not used in Shia Islam, as Shia Muslims do not consider the rule of the first three caliphs legitimate.

The Companions of the Beloved Prophet (S.A.W) hold the highest status in all His (S.A.W)’s Ummah. It is the belief of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat that the Great Caliphs (Khulafa-e-Rashideen (R.A) are superior to all other Sahabah Ikraam.

Khulafa-e-Rashideen means “the Rightly Guided”. They truly followed in the foot steps of Our Prophet (S.A.W) and became the successors after Him (S.A.W).

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) once said “Caliphate shall last for 30 years after me, and thereafter Kingship will be established”.

The Four main Caliphs (In Order of Caliphate) were:

Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) (For a period of about 2 years).
Hazrat Umar-e-Farooque (R.A) (For a period of about 10 years).
Hazrat Usman-e-Ghani (R.A) (For a period of about 12 years).
Hazrat Moula Ali Murtaza (R.A).(For a period of about 6 years).

Hazrat Imaam Hasan (R.A) (For a period of about 6 months , After Hazrat Ali (R.A)).

The most incredible of the Blessed Companions is Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq, trailed (followed) by Hazrat Umar, then Hazrat Uthman and after that Hazrat Ali (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anhum), who are collectively known as the Khulafa-e-Raashideen (The Rightly Guided Caliphs). The Caliphate belonged to these four, following the physical departure of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), for a period of thirty years. Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) was in command for just over two years, Hazrat Umar for ten, Hazrat Uthman for twelve and Hazrat Ali (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anhum) for six

The Caliphate of these four pioneers was a matter of free decision by the Companions, with their consistent assention and willing assent. Its procurement was additionally because of the predominant value of each of them, in his own age and time, over and above the rest of the Companions. It was not taken by the sword, by compulsion, coercion and forcible seizure from someone more worthy of the position, as we will learn below Insha Allah

Concerning the Caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (Radiallahu khulafa rashideenTa’ala Anh), it occurred through the consistent assention of the Muhaajirun (Emigrants) and the Ansaar (Helpers). At the point when the natural existence of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had arrived at an end, the representatives of the Ansaar said, “Let there now be a pioneer from amongst ourselves, and a pioneer from among you (Muhaajirun).”

As for the Caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (R.A), it came about through the unanimous assention of the Muhaajirun (Emigrants) and the Ansaar (Helpers). At the point when the natural existence of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had arrived at an end, the representatives of the Ansaar said, “Let there now be a pioneer from amongst ourselves, and a pioneer from among you (Muhaajirun).
